Meeting tomorrow - 18U!

21 Feb by Kristin Martin

After an extremely grueling, devastating, maddening and down right disappointing 3 month battle, we finally have answers and a plan.

The finalized plan did not come until late in the evening last night after an hour and a half phone call with an incredible company owner. What has happened in these few months fighting for this team – you would never ever believe behind the scenes. It’s another one of those “if I didn’t have proof, you wouldn’t believe me” situations.

But – I wasn’t giving up until I had something worthy of what these girls deserved. So many highs and lows, down to being offered a full paid bid while in Orlando, with another company. It sounded amazing, but I was reluctant to share until I had details. Well, the Tuesday we returned- sure enough the company couldn’t follow through and actually terminated the representative trying to help our girls. While I am not done fighting for our kids, refunds of any kind or compensation, and for the 10-18 Recreation kids across the country in general – we finally have a plan.

While I was ON the phone with this company owner, I had a text come through from my daughter Rylee. It said “do you know what day it is? It’s Bella’s Birthday.”

And in that moment I knew, while absolutely unnecessary and terrible things have happened to get here, this is the way it was meant to be. It was the message the girls wanted to send all year – but also a lesson for me. To never give up, never stop fighting, and even the worst of situations are truly not the end of the world. We can ALL use a little reminder of that.

With that said – I’m going to have a quick meeting at 1:30 tomorrow. We will be keeping practices at the 1.5 hour mark for March – because after that they are just exhausted. I’ll go over the plan, details and costs. It will not conflict with any proms now, although I am so thankful for Hayden who chose this team from the beginning knowing it was her junior prom weekend at Greenup – I’m so happy to know she can now enjoy that.

It will be cheaper, closer and what they plan to do for our girls is nothing short of exactly what we’ve wanted all year – and it has rings, jackets and other great prizes.

We will cover all bases pertaining to competition tomorrow and finishing out this season. I want to keep this meeting at that.

With that said – I wanted to remind everyone of what I said before Florida when I offered any child out of contract if they cannot commit and they stayed. I cannot work around the insane amount of requests I’ve had. I don’t for other teams and I have more for this team than I have in all 12 years of coaching combined. We will need full commitment and attendance now until we are done – as the end of April was the timeframe set from this jump, that and these rules were no secret or surprise. The only way to jackets at this competition is winning the recreational grand champion overall. We want to not only present what these girls have worked hard for – but we want to win. We simply cannot do that with half hearted commitment and effort and a million requests. I set the expectations when I released the packet, have made all the exceptions I’m going to make. For the 4th and final time, if that is not something your family and child can do – please let us know so we can find a replacement or rework the routine. It is not fair to those that have committed all year for us to be expected to work around things others commited to afterward. This was clear and no grey area, so if there are conflicts it is at no fault of our organization. We’ve been beyond accommodating to everyone but our own committed kids and parents.

If you cannot make the meeting, I’ll put out a general post within a few days following the meeting as we have other topics to discuss to close out the season.

And finally – several still owe an ALARMING amount of fees. All fees through February have been posted. If your child crossed over from another team – you still have to pay the 18U fees separately x2 as well.

Same goes for gym fees owed to Pride. If those are not current as of next Wednesday practice, we will have to find a replacement athlete or work them out. As this season ends, we may not see some athletes again and I do not want the facility left with money owed to them. Those monthly fees were also lined out in the contract and I’ve been made aware that some owe an incredibly large amount. I would contact them first thing next week to check if you owe even if you think you do not. It is simply not right to expect to get to be a part of a team everyone else is paying for and not do your part as well as many times as we have been reminded. We did have sponsorship and other opportunities to try and help that many that owe didn’t even attempt – so that’s very hard to understand. We have the best facility with great success in our area and are STILL some of the best pricing nationwide. Some programs, we are HALF the monthly cost. We’ve barely increased pricing even through COVID and inflation – so Please appreciate that and get your bills taken care of before next Wednesday.

Thank you and we will See you tomorrow!
